About Me

about me

Hi everyone — I’m Dore. I’m a first-generation Italian American and am thrilled to share some of my favorite recipes. My family has enjoyed these dishes from the Puglia region of Italy for decades — and I hope you will, too!

I think we all know the true origin of #tomatogirlsummer here in this community 😉happy jarring! Thanks as always to my mom for doing all the hard work!
Once I saw Danielle from @haveucoveredinthekitchen add my all time favorite cheese, ricotta salata, to her watermelon salad, I knew I had to try it! Inspired by Danielle but with only half the ingredients I needed, I threw this dish together as an easy summer side. My cubed watermelon was quickly running out as I noticed little hands sneaking into my prep bowl, so I added pitted & halved cherries, cucumbers, some red onion and some fresh basil. The ricotta salata replaces feta in this dish - a mild but salty cheese that gives just the right finish. Drizzle with olive oil and it’s ready to go! Thank you so much to @haveucoveredinthekitchen for the inspo!
Is it summer without a stunner like this?! A layered salad of arugula, Persian cucumbers, red onion, stone fruit, grilled chicken and some burrata - drizzled all over with extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and pomegranate molasses. I topped it with some seat salt and some crunchy homemade croutons. Summer perfection 😎
Thanks to a couple hot tips from the locals, the Brooklyn Food Tour was a success - wished we could have hit more places but we were already asking a lot for a Sunday afternoon in 90 degree weather with four littles! It was so much fun (and so delicious) to explore this historic Italian neighborhood. Head over to my stories to see some of our stops!!
Feast vibes 🇮🇹
